MEN'S SOCIAL Ages 25 up!  Thursday 11 February 2010 at The Blue Fig Curry Restaurant, 9 Leigh Road, Wimborne.  Meet at 20.30 in the restaurant.  £17.50 (cash) each will get us poppadums, selection of starters and a range of mains, including naan and rice.  This is a BYO place, so please feel free to bring your own tipple, or you can buy their drinks.  Bring a friend also, but please confirm numbers to Richard “Scottie” Scotson.  e-mail: scottiedog1968@hotmail.com or 07801 309777.  Look forward to seeing you. 

 
     
  PLATE A CAKE - The Charity Committee will run a cake sale on the weekend of 13/14 February.  Plates will be handed out next weekend.  Proceeds will go to Father Steven Bulambo of St John's Parish in Malawi.  Please give us your support.  
     
  GET READY FOR LENT - Ash Wednesday is on 17 February.  This is a day of fasting and abstinence (one main meal, no alcohol).  There will be Mass with distribution of Ashes at 10.30 am and 7.30 pm.  Two booklets to help you with your daily prayer during Lent are available-”Walk with Me” and “My Day by Day” at £1 each.  
     
  LENT CHOIR - The Lent choir that sings at the Service of Lights will begin practices on Monday 22 February at 7.30-8.30 pm in the Church Hall.  There will be weekly practices every Monday throughout Lent with the service itself taking place on Tuesday 30 March.  New members very welcome.  It is not expected that you can read music.  If you would like to know more (without commitment!) telephone 885760.  
     
 

FAIRTRADE FORTNIGHT 22 Feb-7 March - During this period there will be a Fairtrade Fayre on Thursday 25 February at 7.30 pm at the Sustainable Education Centre, Queen Elizabeth School.  The event will focus, alongside familiar Fairtrade goods, on less familiar items, so come and be surprised.  Much of the organisation of the evening will be by students from the school, who are deeply committed to the principles of Fairtrade, in creating opportunities for poorer countries to trade.

NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING TEACHER TRAINING RESIDENTIAL COURSE 13-16 MAY 2010 - will be held at Southgate, Buckfast Abbey, to train new teachers and re-accredit existing ones in maintaining skills and keeping up to date with the Billings Ovulation Method (BOM).  Prospective teachers must be users of/or willing to learn the method.  Further information and registration forms available from Christine on 01752 224108 or e-mail: chrishud78@talktalk.net.  Early replies are advisable as places are limited.
