Here are some photographs of the folks enjoying the St Patrick’s Day party at St Catherine’s church hall on March 2006. In true Irish tradition it was a “great party” with singing and dancing and (moderate) drinking. The “Irish Band of Wimborne” played for us ~12 good old Irish songs in which everyone had to join in and sing. This was interspersed with lessons in Ceile dancing, eating and more singing. The party was a fund raiser to support Margaret Taylor's efforts to raise money to help send young people from the parish to Lourdes this May. It was organised by Trish and Bill Eldret, Mona and Phil Wright and Joan Bartlett and was a success in many different ways – it raised £212 for the Lourdes trip, it brought ~50 people together in a friendly and sometimes amusing environment and it demonstrated that we can do God’s work and have fun at the same time!
Well done to everyone who put in the effort to bring it to us and to everyone who came and made it such a good time. Let’s have more of this! |
