"The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again: "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you." When he had said this he breathed on them and said to them: "Receive the Holy Spirit."
John 20, 20-22

Confirmation is one of the Seven Holy Sacraments of the Roman Catholic church. It is the receiving from God those special gifts which bring us closer to him, helping us to better understand and be guided by his Holy Word, enriching our faith in him so that we can more readily follow his example in our daily lives.

St Catherine’s Parish Confirmation Programme
The most appropriate place for catechesis to take place is within the Parish, since that is where the diverse groups which make up the local community of believers gather together to listen to the word of God, to celebrate the Eucharist and to reflect on what it means to be a Christian in today’s world.

The main aims of a Parish confirmation programme are:

  • to celebrate and enrich the existing faith of both candidates and catechists;
  • to deepen their relationship with God through worship and prayer;
  • to build up an active Parish community which lives out the Gospel values
