The Papal Visit 16-19 September 2010 –
(1) our parish has been allocated seven tickets for the Beatification of Cardinal John Henry Newman in Birmingham on Sunday 19 September. There will be a coach leaving from St Mary's Church for the four Poole parishes. Anyone wishing to go should speak to Father Keith this weekend. Lots will be drawn if there are more than seven people who wish to go. In order to be in situ by 8.30am, the coach will have to leave St Mary's at 5.30am, or even earlier!! Please note, there is likely to be quite a bit of walking and standing around involved. Each pilgrim is being asked to contribute £25 towards the return coach journey and the Pilgrim Pack.
(2) Our parish has also been allocated seven tickets for the Prayer Vigil in Hyde Park on Saturday 18 September, which will end at about 9pm. There are no coaches arranged and pilgrims will have to make their own way there. Due to security issues, pilgrims must register in advance, and are being asked for a contribution of £10 for a Pilgrim Pack, which will include an underground ticket. Please speak to Father Keith this weekend if you wish to go. Bishop Christopher: "I suggest the notion of pilgrimage will help us to appreciate the Pope's visit as primarily a faith event. He is coming as a pilgrim and it will be as pilgrims that we meet him." |
